The sixth edition of the Typography Meeting (6ET) is an event promoted and organized by the Portuguese delegation of the Association Typographique Internationale (ATypI). The present sixth edition is being hosted at the Department of Communication and Art at the University of Aveiro (DeCA) with the support of its main research units — DigiMedia e ID+.
This year's theme "Perception" intends for participants to reflect on the factors that enhance the functionality of typography. Factors such as legibility, readability and reading efficiency. As well as the emotional appeal transmitted through design, style or aesthetic options. How these factors enhance typography when used in different media (analog or digital), with different functions (reading, information, entertainment), or even when it's intended for different audiences (children and young readers, experienced readers, senior or visually impaired readers) .
The sixth edition aims to consolidate one of the main objectives of the conference: to establish itself as a national center for discussion and dissemination of typography. To this end, while maintaining the format of the previous editions, the program includes the participation of national and international invited speakers, along with the presentation of communications, projects and panel discussions resulting from the call for papers.
We are currently finishing the program and alocating the speaker presentations and workshop rooms. The final program will soon be announced.
Workshops will be held in advance of the conference. The preparation of the workshopwas a result from the call for proposals. The workshops have a registration fee of 20€ (separate from the conference registration fee). A digital certificate of participation will be issued to registered participants. The preview schedule is as follows.
